Sharp Brings 80-inch HDTV With Wi-Fi and Apps

Sharp has announced that every new TV model it releases in 2012 will be 60 inches or larger. Leading the pack of new TVs is Sharp’s 80-inch LC-80LE632U. It’s very similar to the 80-inch HDTV Sharp started selling in September 2011, except this new HDTV has a faster refresh rate of 240Hz and Sharp’s Quattron technology. Sales of the TV will start in April at $6499. The new features include Wi-Fi and Sharp’s new SmartCentral user interface. SmartCentral is Sharp’s Smart TV platform. It comes with the usual streaming apps like Netflix and Pandora as well as a host of others. It’s also got a small function like Google TV with the way its search function pulls results from the Internet and the content in your apps. Sharp says the new line of TVs will have the ability to be controlled by tablets and smartphones.
