Ex-CNN Reporter Christian Purefoy Launches ‘Battabox’ To Stream #OccupyNigeria Protests Online
CNN’s ex West Africa correspondent Christian Purefoy has founded a website to stream the ongoing #OccupyNigeria protests against the subsidy removal. The website is the only online channel streaming the protests live as a lot of Local and International Television channels have refused to cover the protests. The website was officially launched earlier this week.

As the international media continues to ignore the growing #OccupyNigeria protests – Nigerians are taking matters into their own hands with on-ground live video, interviews, chanting, prayers and placards with the protesters go to BattaBox.com for rolling coverage of #OccupyNigeria. Also, Nigerians are uploading their videos, photos and protests to air on www.battabox.com/upload.html. This is a Nigerian conversation – BattaBox.com.
The website allows users to upload videos and photos to its service. Videos are uploaded via YouTube and then displayed on Battabox’s YouTube channel. Images on the other hand are hosted on Picasa. Before launching Battabox, Christian Purefoy had spent 6 years in the West African region covering stories for CNN. Notice how long it took CNN to cover the protests? Ha!
The website also has a small chatbox where users can discuss and organise protests. Mobile users can also download the currently available Battabox app for BlackBerry and Android. iOS, Java and Nokia versions of the app are coming soon. Battabox isn’t limited to only citizen report content only, You can upload your music videos, fun photos, events, whatever. Battabox takes it all.
