Amazon has announced a new lineup of its Kindle range of devices: the Kindle Fire HD. The Kindle Fire HD range includes the Kindle Fire HD 7-inch and the Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch tablets. A photo purpoted to be that of an upcoming variant of Amazon’s Kindle Fire has leaked to The Verge. Developers on xda-developers forums have figured out a way to port Amazon‘s Silk browser(the browser for the Kindle Fire) unto different rooted Android devices. Note: Rooted Android Devices only.   Members of the developer forum, xda-developers, have gotten a pre-alpha version of Android 4.0 running on Amazon’s Kindle Fire. The installation is based on CyanogenMod 9 with the ROM working well at its early stage. The Ice Cream Sandwich custom ROM removes all Amazon’s customisation that was pre-installed on the Tablet. Kindle Fire Gets Speed-Improving Update

Amazon has updated the software on the Kindle Fire to verson 6.2.1. The update hopes to fix problems with the touchscreen, improve performance and brings a few new features. New features include the ability to add a password to lock Wi-Fi access and the option to choose which apps display on the home carousel.
