June 21st happens to be the first day of summer and yup – Google has a doodle for it. The doodle was designed by Japanese designer Takashi Murakami, who also designed the album art for rapper, Kanye West’s album ‘Graduation’. He put his signature look to the design well enough.
Today is also the summer solstice; the longest day of the year which occurs when the sun is directly above the Tropic of Cancer i.e. farthest north in the sky. According to USA Today, the exact moment of the solstice today will occur at 1:16 p.m. ET.
In the Southern Hemisphere however, today marks the first day of the winter solstice.
So be it summer or winter wherever you are, have a good day today
