Google Doodle Celebrates ‘I Love Lucy’ Star, Lucille Ball

Oh Lucy! Google Doodle loves you today. Google celebrates the star of ‘I Love Lucy’, Lucille Ball today with a Doodle which plays a clip from the series when clicked. The Google logo gets a complete makeover for this one as a retro TV logo replaces the usual logo font.

Born August 6, 1911, Lucille Ball was an iconic TV and movie star whose career spanned from the 1940s up until the 1970s, one of Hollywood’s longest careers. The hit 1950′s show lasted from 1951-57 and led to several spinoffs, two of them being similarly successful namely ‘The Lucy Show’ and ‘Here’s Lucy’. Her last attempt was her failed attempt with a 1986′s ‘Life With Lucy’ which only aired 8 episodes.

She received 13 Emmy nominations for her work and won four along with others including the Crystal Award, the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kennedy Center Honors in 1986.

She charmed millions with humor, her signature vibrant red hair and blue eyes. Ball died on April 26, 1989 at age 77, she is gone but definitely not forgotten. the actress would have been a hundred years old today.
