19 Year-Old Gets Arrested In Connection With LulzSec Hacks

A 19 year-old from Wickford, Essex, Ryan Cleary has been arrested in connection with LulzSec – the hacking group responsible for the PlayStation Network, Nintendo and CIA hacks. The UK Metropolitan Police has released a statement on the arrest stating that its Central e-Crime Unit had arrested the young man in a pre-planned intelligence-led operation.

Part of the statement reads:

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of Computer Misuse Act, and Fraud Act offences and was taken to a central London police station, where he currently remains in custody for questioning.

Searches at a residential address in Wickford, Essex, following the arrest last night have led to the examination of a significant amount of material. These forensic examinations remain ongoing.

Also, Sabu a member of LulzSec had tweeted that Ryan Clearly had little to do with LulzSec, announcing that all members are safe.

FYI all members of LulzSec are safe. Ryan Cleary has little to do with lulzsec besides running irc.lulzsec.org. Media needs to fix story.

LulzSec also tweeted later via their official Twitter account that all its members are jail-free.

Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it’s all over now… wait… we’re all still here! Which poor bastard did they take down?

What do you think about the arrest? Have the guys at LulzSec even done anything wrong by showing loopholes in Cloud services? Noting that they haven’t distributed or used any of the sensitive information they’ve collected.
