Yahoo! has appointed Marissa Mayer as the new CEO of the once indomitable tech giant.

Mayer brings with her almost 14 years of experience working at Google and developing some of their groundbreaking products such as Search, GMail and News products. She also brings her technical know-how in computer science as she studied Computer Science at Stanford University.

The tech giant has struggled in the past four years to compete with other sites for ad revenue, search and innovation. The company famously rejected Microsoft’s $44 billion bid back in 2008.

The question remains if this appointment will reverse the fortunes of one of the Internet’s foremost sites.
