Blog World Expo 2011! Can’t Attend? Read This

If you are a blogger, you should have heard about the Blog World Expo happening in Los Angeles. If you haven’t, then maybe you’ve been a little offline or you’re not just catching up. It’s a gathering of bloggers far and wide, to share, learn, interact and network with one another.

A lot of speakers (over 250 speakers) will be speaking on different topics and niches about how to improve your craft as a blogger. The conference’s official website reads: “Learn how to create better content, grow your brand, audience and revenue online from the world’s most successful New Media experts & Social Media innovators.” The conference is billed to run from 3rd to 5th Nov, which means if you’re just hearing about it now, you’re a bit behind.

But the reality is that not every blogger can attend especially if you’re not in the US and/or you’re just entering into the blogosphere. This is where this article comes in. If you are a blogger (a real blogger at that, especially our readers in Nigeria and Africa as a whole), this kind of conference should not pass you by. So as much as possible try to get some lessons and tips from it that can help you become a better blogger and hence earn bigger bucks (if your blog gives you income). So below are a few ways to still benefit from the event even though you are not there.

A live stream is made available by the organizers, so you catch up with that. Generous, you’ll say. Also, Blogger is providing another opportunity for those who can’t attend. According to Blogger’s Michael Bolognino, they’ve planned a series of video chats for you. This will be hosted by Blogger’s Community Manager, Lisa Ding, through Google+ Hangouts on her Google+ profile on Friday and Saturday (4th and 5th). The schedules are:

  • Friday, Nov 4:
    • 11AM – Hangout: New UI
    • 1PM – Hangout: Hangout: Dynamic Views
    • 3PM – Hangout: Monetization on Blogger
  • Saturday, Nov. 5:
    • 11AM – Hangout: Google+ & Blogging

So go Google+, open an account (if you don’t already have one), then plus Lisa and get going. You can also follow bloggers present at the event on twitter. Use the hash tag #bwela and see those you’ll like to follow.
Like I said you’re already missing, better get going. Bye.

You can share the tips you’ve learnt in the comments area below.
