Nintendo Reveals Streamlined Wii

Nintendo has announced that it would be releasing a slightly redesigned version of the Wii console in time for the Christmas holidays. This new streamlined Wii will come in a bundle with Wii Party and Wii Sports. But wait, there’s more; also included with the bundle will be the new Wii Remote Plus Controller and a Nunchuk. Nintendo has referred to this as the “Family Edition” bundle and for now it is only going to be released in the UK, at a reduced holiday season price.

The catch is that this new Wii console will lose a key feature which is its backwards compatibility. So Gamecube games and accessories will no longer be supported. However if you’re still looking to play Gamecube games I sympathize with you for the deprived childhood you had/are having. Furthermore, the new design is so the Wii can sit horizontally ( as seen in the image above)  rather than vertically.

I, personally, am not sure why Nintendo decided the Wii needed a makeover – then again I don’t own one. What do you think of this new “streamlined” Wii? Will you put it on your Christmas shopping list? Please leave any comments below.

Blehh..This so wasn't necessary. I love the way the Wii stands vertically and the bundle should've come with better games if anything. Like it'll be good if they could release a new Mario Kart game or something along that line. So, nothing for the "streamlined" Wii. And loool at that "deprived childhood" statement!

I really don't get the change. Wii is ok the way it is except the fact it doesn't use a HDMI cable.
