Just recently, prior to the release of Halo 4, a web series called Forward unto Dawn which revolves around the Halo franchise was released weekly starting on October 5, 2012, and was later released as a single film on DVD and Blu-ray. Though it was more like a marketing strategy for then upcoming Halo 4, its visual effects and story line caught the attention of millions of fans.

The Halo television series will have content which is exclusive to the newly announced successor of the Xbox 360, the Xbox One.
