Google Launches 11.6-inch Samsung Chromebook
Google has launched the latest version of its laptop running its own Chrome OS. The new Chromebook has an 11.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768, is only 0.8-inches thick and packs a battery that lasts over 6.5 hours.
It’s powered by a dual-core Samsung Exynos 5 Dual SoC, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage. Wireless networks supported are WiFi and Bluetooth. Also included for connectivity are a USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 port a headphone/mic jack and an SD card slot. You’ll also be getting 100GB of Google Drive for 2 years if you purchase this device.
Like Windows 8, Google’s Chrome OS boots in under 10 seconds and is faster than the earlier versions released last year. Chrome OS is basically the Chrome browser. The system boots up and loads Chrome, from where a user can run pre-installed apps or install extensions from the Chrome App Store. The idea of the Chromebook is a future where Wi-Fi is ever present.
Pricing is $249 in the US and £299 in the UK
The question is do you want a laptop that boots under 10 seconds with a battery that lasts a quarter of a day but runs only Chrome and on Wi-Fi?
