The creators of the popular iOS app and App Store App of the year, Instagram, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger came on stage at SXSW to show off a working prototype of an Android version of Instagram running on a Galaxy Nexus.
The app is in private beta right now and should be released in a few months, though no official release date was given.
In addition to talking about their Android App, Kevin also mentioned that they had grown from 15 million registered users in December to over 27 million, nearly doubling their userbase in less than four months showing that Instagram is a very popular app in the iPhone and iPod Touch user community.
Do you use an Android phone? Will you be excited to get Instagram for Android when it is finally released? Leave a comment with your thoughts.
