Quality Earphones For Your Budget

Music has always been important to me, so when it comes to quality in my earphones, I don’t joke at all. I took an audio production class where I learnt everything about what makes good audio. Ever since then my ears have been sensitive to poor quality audio.

I am writing this to deliver you all from the evils of poor quality audio.

Using poor quality earphones can mess up your ears. They can reduce your frequency response (to simplify the definition I’ll explain by saying; you know when everyone around you can hear a very low sound and you’re like o_O, yeah, you’ve lost some already). Losing that increases your chances of needing a hearing aid by the time you’re in your 30′s and I don’t think anyone wants that. I think you want to be able to give the “Back in my days music was good” talk and know exactly what you’re talking about.

I will give you three types of earphones for three different kinds of budgets.

Firstly, for those of us that find ourselves settling for $10 earphones that can’t even produce us with a good bass. I discovered the joys of the Sony PIIQ’s a few months ago and the bass and treble they produce is amazing! They come in four sets of vibrant colors and they go for about $12 to $15. I say they are worth every penny, they make me appreciate music more. They also come in clip-ons and over-the-ear but that’s only if you’re willing to chip in a few more dollars.

For the people that wouldn’t mind splurging a bit more, I used the SkullCandy Titans a while back and they did me good. I bought them to get quality sound while recording my podcast. They we’re great and the cable isn’t your regular plastic covered cable, it’s braided so it’s hard to spoil. The base and treble are brilliant, they make you want to turn up the volume and just dance or sing off-key whichever your preference is. For about $25-$40 you can get your hands on these ones.

Finally, for those that want complete musical bliss and have the cash for it. Bang & Olufsen makes a great pair of banging earphones. I came across these when my sister got them and they blew me away. If they weren’t so expensive I’d never let go of them. I don’t think any word I can type on here can describe how wowed I was when I put these in my ears. If you can afford to buy them, I have this to say to you: Get it! Save your ears the trauma. They could be yours for $160.

There you have it, my pick of great earphones for every budget. If you know of any others that can deliver great music for a great price, feel free to drop in a suggestion in the comments. Also let me know if you agree or disagree.
