Lenovo Unveils Windows 8 Tablet: ThinkPad Tablet 2[PHOTOS]

Lenovo has unveiled the Thinkpad Tablet 2. The tablet will run Windows 8 and be the first tablet to run an Intel mobile chip – the Clover Trail processor.

Here’s what’s special about Clover Trail. Earlier, Windows 8 tablets could run Windows RT and Windows RT doesn’t have the ability to run old Windows 7 apps. Enter Clover Trail. Clover Trail enables the ThinkPad Tablet 2 to run Windows 8 Pro, a proper version of office and all Windows 7 apps.

Lenovo’s first Windows 8 tablet has a 1366 x 768 pixels anti-glare display, 10.1-inch screen, weighing 1.3 pounds and 0.39 inches thick. On its sides, the ThinkPad Tablet 2 has a mini HDMI port, USB 2.0 ports and a microSD card slot. It also packs stereo speakers, 3G and 4G connectivity, NFC capabilites, a keyboard dock and a fingerprint reader.

Below are pictures of the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2. It seems a little thick for a tablet but at 1.3 pounds, it’s quite light.

We haven’t gotten a price or a price range from Lenovo as they haven’t released that. Microsoft had said earlier that its Surface Pro will be at a price near Ultrabooks.

What do you think about Windows 8 tablets? Will you be willing to buy one? Please leave us a comment.
