We reported early this month that Germany based incubator Rocket Internet is launching an online store for clothes and fashion accessories called Sabunta. TechLoy reports Rocket might also be launching an Amazon clone called Kasuwa. Kasuwa will be an online store for e-books, DVDs and electronic gadgets.
Earlier in the week, we saw a tweet from Mark Essien, founder Hotels.com.ng
What’s the deal with abokai.com. Found that by looking what else shared ip address with Sabunta

A Google search for Abokai showed this as its meta information
Hello Nigeria! Abokai.com is the one stop destination for all things Cell Phone, TV, Software, Audio, Computer, Camera, Electronic..
Here’s an image of what it looked like:
The Sabunta website on the other hand was shut down a few minutes after Mark Essien’s tweet. It’s up again as I write this. Asking for signups with an image of a pair of shoes in the background. The website says
“Sabunta.com is your one stop shop for all things shoes, fashion and clothing. Sign up and receive exclusive launch offers.”
Here’s what Sabunta looks like this morning:
Rocket has also begun a campaign on Sabunta’s Facebook page, beginning with an advert for a dress at ₦9292.
It is very likely and possible that Rocket will launch two companies simultaneously given its experience with replicating business models around the world.
