Remember Toshiba’s Thrive? Remember how big it was and the number of multiple ports it had? Well, it seems Toshiba has switched strategies and is going smaller. Toshiba has announced the Excite X10 LE – the world’s thinnest and lightest tablet. For now.

The Excite X10 LE weights 1.18lbs and is 7.7mm thin. It currently runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb but Toshiba has promised an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich. It features a 1280×800 10.1-inch AutoBrite, Gorilla Glass protected display and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. Internal storage comes with options of 16GB or 32GB costing $529 and $599 respectively.

The X10 packs a lot of connection options like its earlier brothers the Thrive and the Thrive 7. Ports include microUSB, HDMI and a microSD slot for extra storage. There’s also Bluetooth and WiFi support. There’s a rear 5 megapixel camera than can shoot videos at 1080p, while the front-facing camera is 2 megapixels.
