Yesterday RIM announced via its blog that it will be offering its 16GB Blackberry Playbook tablet to enterprise customers for free. The offer which runs from now till the 31st of December 2011 is for businesses that upgrade to RIM’s Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) v. 5.0 and provides up to 400 USD off installation services through selected partners along with a list of new server features.
During the week RIM also announced a $300 price drop on the price of the Playbook tablet starting at $199  for the least model. RIM has been experiencing a lot of setbacks this year, consumers are losing interest in its tablet and the sales of its smartphones continue to stall. Promotions and offers like these appear to be RIM’s major strategy in order to keep the Canadian based company running until it launches it first round of BBX smartphones which are expected to be released late 2012.
