Have a kidney to spare? If the answer to that question is yes, then you can get an iPad 2 in return. You might think that sounds dumb but that is what happened to Xiao Zheng, a seventeen year old boy who sold his kidney and used the money to buy and iPad 2.

Zheng, who is from Anhui province in China, always wanted an iPad2 but could not get one because his parents were not financially equipped to get him one. According to the boy a broker contacted him on the Internet and said he could help him sell one kidney for 22,000 yuan, which is equivalently  about $3400.

Some days back, Zheng went to Chenzhou city in Hunan province for the kidney removal surgery arranged by the broker, whom he met online. The surgery took place out the Chenzhou No 198 hospital, it later turned out that the hospital was not fully qualified to perform the surgery on the boy. After buying the iPad 2 with the money he acquired from selling his kidney, he returned home to a suspicious mother. After confessing to his mother about the incident, the case was reported to the police; the case is currently being investigated. The boy’s health has been deteriorating over the past days while the mother continues her search to find the dealer who took her sons kidney.

No matter how desperate one gets for fancy technological products, I highly recommend that they should still think rationally about it. Hopefully, Zheng would survive and be able to learn from this mistake. What do you think about the situation, comments can be left below.
