Part of its Xperia NXT series, Sony’s Xperia U is a 3.5-inch Reality Display, Android 2.3 [planned upgrate to 4.0] running smartphone. The Xperia U is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core CPU with a 5MP camera capable of HD recording as well as Sony technology for 2D and 3D panoramic Images. Connection options are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and DLNA for wireless streaming.

Sony has shed the Ericsson name and has introduced a new UI with a new look for albums, video and music player including a SmartKey that launches a favourite app.

The Xperia U will be available in white or black with pink and yellow exchangeable caps for the base of the phone. Users of the Xperia U can purchase content via Sony’s Entertainment Network. Movies will be available via Video Unlimited and songs via Music Unlimited
