Sony Unveils Xperia Sola[SPECS+PICS+VIDEOS]

Continuing from the Xperia S, U and P, Sony has announced a new kid in its Xperia line – the Xperia Sola. The 9.9mm-thin smartphone has a 3.7” Mobile Bravia display at 854 x 480 pixels protected by scratch resistant glass. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread (ICS update coming by Summer) on a 1GHz dual-core processor with 8GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB via a microSD slot.

The Xperia Sola sports a 5 megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, autofocus, face detection, 16x digital zoom, geotagging and video recording at 720p HD. On the connectivity side, the Sola supports USB 2.0, aGPS, Wi-Fi (can act as a hotspot), Bluetooth with A2DP and DLNA for wireless streaming. For turn-by-turn navigation, Wiseplot is included.

Sony is introducing its “Floating touch” tecnology on the Sola. Floating touch lets you navigate the web browser by hovering your fingers above the screen without touching the screen itself.

Its 1320mAh battery gives video playback up to 6 hrs, music listening up to 40 hours, 6 hours of talk time and 470 hours of standby. The Sola comes in variants of Black, White and Red. Sony hasn’t given an official date or cost of the Xperia Sola. We’ll keep you updated.
