Ice Cream Sandwich Face Unlock Gets Fooled By Photos

One of the appealing features of Google’s Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is its face unlock feature. The Galaxy Nexus can reportedly unlock your phone based on facial recognition. Turns out the software can be fooled by holding up a photo to the camera. There has been skepticism in the past about the feature but Google said “Give us some credit”. Someone with SoyaCincau activated the Face Unlock feature on a Galaxy Nexus , then tried unlocking it with his photos. It unlocked! It’s however important to know that Face Unlock is still experimental – it even says so in the settings. So if your device gets Ice Cream Sandwich, you might want to stick to current generation lock options like passwords or traceable lines.
