Search by Image

Have you ever had an object in front of you and not known its name or the appropriate name to call it? Your problem has been solved.

Google has added a new feature to search known as ‘Search By Image’. Here’s how it works: When you go to Google and click on ‘Images’, the image search page loads with a small camera icon at the right of the search bar. You click the camera icon and you either paste an image url from somewhere else on the web, or you upload the picture you want to use as a search term and Voila! Google starts showing you results related to that picture. Wonderful isn’t it?

For the Voice Search, all you have to do is click on the microphone icon in the search bar and record your voice. Google will immediately show you results based on your audio query. Voice Search is currently being rolled out to users and is only availalbe in US English. Don’t even try searching for ‘Ekaaro’ or ‘Kedu’, the results are disastrous!

So what do you think? Is google continuing to keep itself as king of search? Can Bing and Yahoo respond to this and get more users than google search?
