Google Launches +1 Button for Websites

Google has created a button for its +1 service for search results. The button first showed up in Google search in March so users could share search results they liked with friends, connected to them through any of Google’s services.
This button is definitely going to compete with other share buttons across the web: Facebook’s ‘Like’ and recently the LinkedIn and Tumblr buttons. Google is hoping people are more likely to click things their friends have shared. Since everyone is going social.
So here’s how it works:
When you’re reading a post you like anywhere on the web, you click the +1 button and share it. When any of your friends searches for any term related to that post/page you’ve shared, the link will show up in their search results and they’ll see that it was you who shared the results.
The buttons will also be on other Google Products such as Android Market, Blogger, Product Search and YouTube.
How do you get it?
Google has created a small tool so you can create different sizes of the buttons and copy the JavaScript code. You can get the code here http://www.google.com/webmasters/+1/button/index.html
It’s still an experiment that google search users will need to opt in to. You can only see recommendations when you’ve opted in and are signed into your google account. You can opt in here: http://www.google.com/experimental/index.html
