Nokia Targets Low-End Markets With Lumia 720 and 520 [SPECS + PHOTOS + VIDEOS]

Nokia unveiled two new Windows Phone 8 devices at Mobile World Congress 2013 – the Lumia 720 and Lumia 520. The 720 is a mid-range phone and the 520 is a low-end phone. The 520 will go on sale for about $180 while the 720 will go for around $330.

The Lumia 520 sports a 4-inch LCD display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It’s powered by a 1GHz dual-core snapdragon processor and 512MB of RAM. Internal storage stands at 8GB with extra 7GB of storage on SkyDrive, and a microSD slot expandable by up to 64GB.

For taking photos and recording videos, the Lumia 520 has a 5 megapixel camera at the rear. However, it lacks a secondary camera

Connectivity options include USB 2.0, Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi. It lacks NFC support.

Its 1430 mAh battery lasts 14.8 hours of talktime on 2G, 9.6 hours of talktime on 3G and 360 hours of standby on 3G. Music playback lasts 6.1 hours, cellular network browsing time is 6.7 hours and WiFi network browsing time is 6.2 hours.

For $180, this is a great phone.

Targeted at mid-range users, the Lumia 720 will launch first in Asia Pacific in Q2 and the rest of the world after.

At 9mm thin, the Lumia 720 has a 4.3-inch Clear Black display specially for outdoor viewing. On the inside is a dual-core 1GHZ processor, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage. External storage can be added up to 64GB. SkyDrive storage of 7GB is also included in this package.

This smartphone has a 6.7 megapixel at its rear equipped with Carl Zeiss optics and an f1.9 aperture for shooting in low light areas. The front camera is a 1.3 megapixel HD camera with a wide angle lens so you can take group photos. There’s also a feature called “Glam me up” – this takes your picture and gives you whiter teeth and smoother skin.

Connection options include WiFi, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and NFC. Its 2000 mAh battery lasts 23.4 hours of talk time on 2G, 13.4 talk time hours on 3G and 250 hours on standby on 3G. Music playback will last for 79 hours and WiFi browsing for 13.4 hours . The battery supports wireless charging with Nokia and its partners’ accessories.

We’re not sure when both phones will hit the Nigerian shelves, but we know Nigeria is a priority market for Nokia as we saw with the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 launch.
