RIM Sponsors BlackBerry App Developer Day At MWWA 2012

RIM has announced its sponsorship of the Application Developers’ Day at the upcoming Mobile Web West Africa conference. The Application Developer Day will be held at Oriental Hotel on the 24th of April 2012. Mobile Web West Africa continues unto the 25th and 26th of April.

The purpose of the BlackBerry app developer day is to promote development of BlackBerry apps across the region. It’ll also expose BlackBerry developers to avenues of monetisation. About 20 of the developers present at the app developer day event will have their attendance covered for the rest of Mobile Web West Africa. Developers will also enter a competition where prizes raise from BlackBerry Smartphones to an all expense paid trip to the next BlackBerry Developers Conference in 2013.

“RIM is pleased to partner with Mobile Web West Africa to support the evolution of the mobile ecosystem in this region. As the leading provider of smartphones in Nigeria, this event provides a great opportunity to
network with West Africa’s most talented mobile developers and support them with new ideas and
information about developing for the BlackBerry platform.” said RIM’s Regional Director, East, Central and West Africa, Waldi Wepener.

The Mobile Web Africa series of conferences is put together yearly by All Amber to support the growth of the mobile sector across sub-Saharan Africa. Mobile Web East Africa was held earlier this year.
