Android Finally Gets Device Location Service

Finally, Google gets it! Android announced via its official blog that it would get device location services. This means that when you lose your phone or someone steals it (or lock it in your suitcase by mistake in my case), you can make your device play a loud sound even if it’s on silent. You can also locate your device on a map or remotely wipe it to protect your data if it has indeed been stolen.

You can access these services via the Android Device Manager, and you would need Android 2.2 or later as well as a Google account. I love how this came right when I decided to go Android. Everybody wins!
