YouTube For Uganda Launches
Google via its Google Africa blog has announced the launch of a special YouTube version for Ugandans. The launch adapts to Ugandans’ taste of web videos and shows relevant videos even before search. YouTube will also show the most viewed videos and most subscribed channels in Uganda.
Also, videos uploaded from Uganda now have a better chance of showing up on the home page. YouTube has also teamed up with Ugandan broadcasters such as NTV Uganda and Bukedde TV. If you’ve got a slow internet connection, there’s YouTube Feather to help you play videos faster.
From the beginning of the year, Google has rolled out localised versions of YouTube for African countries. The first set of localised YouTube versions were for Kenya, Egypt, South Africa and Tunisia. YouTube Nigeria is reported to launch on December 7.
