FIFA Named Best Video Game Franchise

The Fifa franchise has lived and endured for just under 18 years. Some dedicated fans may be familiar with the first ever FIFA title: FIFA international Soccer, which was released for PC, Genesis, Master System and Sega CD on the 15th of July 1993 (2 weeks after I was born!). Now it has been named the best video game series of all time, over the likes of Super Mario and Call of Duty.

1,862 gamers aged eighteen and over were interviewed about their attitudes to video games and voted for their favourite video game titles. The results were as follows:

1) FIFA – 72%

2) Final Fantasy – 67%

3) Super Mario Brothers – 61%

4) Sonic the Hedgehog- 55%

5) Zelda – 51%

6) Resident Evil – 49%

7) Call of Duty- 41%

8 ) Grand Theft Auto- 38%

9) Tomb Raider- 37%

10) Tony Hawk Pro Skater- 25%

Who would have thought Call of Duty would be a whole 6 places away from first place despite its unrivalled hype and record breaking sales.

It just goes to show… nothing beats a good game of FIFA. I don’t know about you but this news made me less patient for FIFA 12′s release.

Do you agree with the rankings? Is there any title you feel was left out? please leave any comments below.

  1. No one says:

what kind of percentage is this tho? 72% 67% I'm pretty sure the two combined give way above 100. :S
