Get To Know About New Books Through Google Alerts

If you are a book lover and have been bored with all of the other busy sectors of tech like the mobile sector, here’s one bit of news to ease you of it.

The last few days have been busy with a lot of news and events – from iPhone 4S, to Web 2.0, to Razr, and the likes. But amidst that, here’s one for book lovers. You can now get alerts when a new book is released from your favourite author or any topic of interest to you. Like you saw above this service is from Google through Google Alerts and Google Books. All you have to do is set up a Google alert and get email notices when new books that matches your interest are released.

This was announced on Google’s official blog by Google Books Associate Product Manager, Xinxing Gu. “To create an alert for books, go to Google Alerts, type in the keywords you are interested in about a book, (whether it’s title, author name, or topic) and choose “Books” from the Typedrop-down button, and create.” Once you create the alert, you will automatically begin receiving notification emails about new, recently published books in Google Books.

In case you don’t know what Google Books is, it is a service from Google that searches the full text of books that Google has scanned, converted to text using optical character recognition, and stored in its digital database. You can learn more about it here, or better still just try it out.
