This may seem very weird or might sound like a hack but it is true. If you purchase both the Xbox One and the PS4 you will be able to play PS4 games (or even the current gen systems) on their Xbox One’s interface.

In a post by Jeff Henshaw of Microsoft, he confirmed that you can use the Xbox and Kinect to switch to the PS4 without complications and that the lag would be so little the human eye would not be able to detect.

You would also be able to connect a Wii U to play games and then use voice commands to put that in the background and switch over to an Xbox One game without changing inputs.

This is a great feature that will eliminate the technicality of always disconnecting and reconnecting another system just to play a game and also goes well with the fact that Microsoft wants the Xbox One to be an all round media system and not just another game console.

I think this is clever and I’m looking forward to seeing how this actually works. Are you excited?

After the launch of Sony’s latest gaming console, the PlayStation 4 at E3 2013 where it finally showed the console 4 months after it announced it and even showed us the console’s controller. Sony didn’t quite show us what an everyday use of the console would be like.

The company just released this video(below) to show just that – The PS4 experience. Looking at it we can see the interface and a feel of the user interaction. We can see how gamers can speak to one another regardless of what game they’re playing (referred to as cross-game chat), how easily people can capture gameplay video and share that content with friends. In the video, the user learns how to defeat an obstacle via a shared video. We also see the ability to watch those same videos and remotely set up purchases and join the action with a Sony smartphone.

Tell us the feature you’re most excited about and what your favourite feature is. Please leave a comment below.

Sony’s latest video game console was announced close to four months ago without actually showing us the console. It has finally been unveiled with a price tag of $399 which is about $100 cheaper than the Xbox One.

The new console is a bit similar to the older one but a bit bigger with an angled parallelogram design and will be available in black.

They also answer the question on if used games will work on the console and the answer is yes. It will also be able to play games while offline.

You can find out more about the technical aspects of the console here.

ps4 event

Sony announced the PlayStation 4 — its next generation gaming console and the successor to the PlayStation 3, yesterday at their New York event.

The console packs some impressive hardware specs. An eight-core X86 AMD “Jaguar” CPU and a 1.84 Teraflop AMD Radeon graphics engine (with “18 compute units”) are what power the central processing on the PS4, There’s also 8GB of fast GDDR5 memory on-board.

The PS4 will have a hard drive but the size and if it will be easily interchanged with that of the PS3 is still unknown. Sony also promised that the PS4 will allow speedy background downloading, and games will even be playable as they’re being downloaded! Sony showed us what there’s figures meant with a demo of the systems graphics (video below).

Ps4 info

People raised questions concerning PlayStation 3 games working on the PlayStation 4 and Sony explained saying that PS4 supports not just PlayStation 3 backward-compatibility, but potentially PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games via a PlayStation Cloud Service. They didn’t specify how or when it will be available.

Although the console was not shown, its controller was. The new controller called DualShock 4, maintains the same familiar basic look as the older controller but has a touch pad above the two analogue sticks, much like the touch pad behind the PlayStation Vita.

It has a Micro USB port, Bluetooth 2.1, Sixaxis gyroscope/accelerometers, standard headphone/microphone jack and a share button that can be used to broadcast your game session to online friends, via services like Ustream.

Sony is gunning hard for the social crowd, with features such as the ability to upload gameplay clips to Facebook. The PS4 controller will also have a light-up bar that looks like a transplanted top of a Move wand which will make the controller motion-capable. The glowing light communicates with the PlayStation 4 Eye, a new dual-camera sensor bar that also supports Move controllers.

The console has some new features like Remote Play, which will allow you to play PS4 games on your PS Vita. It sounds somewhat like what the Nintendo Wii U enables on the GamePad, except in this case they’ve translated the experience to a fully independent handheld device. They discussed the feature, but didn’t demo the technology at the event.

We’re waiting for Sony to announce the price of the PS4 and grace us with a picture. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we get more information.

In the meantime, what do you think about the ability to upload and share gameplay and the ability to play a game while it’s being downloaded? Please leave us a comment.

The next generation of video game machines might be coming really soon as Sony will host a big event for the PlayStation on the 20th of February in New York. This makes many believe this would be the stage where the company would unveil the successor to the PlayStation 3.

Attached to the invitation is a short teaser video that consists only of a trippy flythrough of the iconic PlayStation shapes but no other detail to hint us in any direction. Reports also point that Sony and Microsoft already planned to debut their consoles before E3 2013.

So according to the DigiTimes, Sony has announced that manufacturers would begin work on the Playstation 4 at the end of this year so that it may see a launch date probably late in 2012. Foxconn and Pegatron Technology, who were responsible for the assembling of the PS3 will lead the manufacture of the PS4 as well. Rumour also has it that the Playstation 4 will feature motion control similar to that of the Xbox’s Kinect.

Now, the issue that should be causing gamers discomfort is how trustworthy these sources are. There are a number of reasons why one wouldn’t and shouldn’t believe this news. Firstly, Sony just adopted the Playstation move, I can’t imagine that they would be in such a hurry to scrap it in favour of an idea that’s more or less ripped off from their closest competitors.

The Playstation 3 is an evolving console. From its initial release, we have seen an improvement in its online gaming experience, new 3D capabilities, and even Netflix options. Its evolution is still in progress so why come out of the blue with a revolution?

However if it makes anyone feel better, you don’t need to be concerned about the validity of the news because the world is going to end in December 2012 as per the Mayans’ prediction so there’s no need for anxiety over a late 2012 launch date.

How eager are you for the PS4? Are you still satisfied with your PS3? Leave any comments below.

As Nigerians would say: “ghen ghen!” (a phrase used in the anticipation of a somewhat epic event). Yes, fellow gamers. The age of eight generation gaming is finally upon us- though not completely, so I would not recommend putting up your Playstation 3 up on eBay yet. In the mean time though, let’s see what Sony has in store for us.

Playstation Portable 2

Sony  is already planning its debut into the new era with the release of its next generation Playstation Portable which has been codenamed “NGP”. I’ll waste a sentence here while you have a guess what that stands for… It stands for Next Generation Portable and the specs for this device leave little to doubt about that codename. The new PSP has been given a second joystick; I imagine this was to appease the “shoot-em-up” gamers. Also, the front and back of the device is touch-sensitive, Sony plans for this to facilitate “touch, grab, trace, push and pull hand movements.” Competitive gaming will also be made easier as the NGP will have a 3G connection- along with Wi-Fi of course. So to all on-the-move gamers, the wait is almost over as the PSP NGP is scheduled for release during the fall of 2011.

Playstation 4

And now for the main event… yes folks, Sony has confirmed that work on the PS4 is already in progress. Sony’s investors were the first people to hear this wonderful news when they enquired about increased research and development costs; Sony’s executive vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato confirmed that Sony is working on the PS4.

It’s still a bit too early to give full details of all the specs to expect but I can predict givens such as backwards compatibility with PS3 games and so on, blu-ray capabilities and possibly some sort of interaction with the PSP NGP.

Many minds will be eased by the news that Sony has no intention what so ever of investing as much as it did on the PS3, and with the current state of the global economy no one can blame them. Despite the spending cuts we can still be assured that Sony will release a competent next generation gaming console. Realistically speaking though, we most likely won’t see a launch until 2014 so don’t stop getting comfortable with your PS3 and PSPs.

What features would you like to see in a next generation Playstation? Please leave any comments below.
