Samsung has released specifications of the sequels to the Galaxy Mini and the Galaxy Ace. The Galaxy Ace 2 hits the UK in April and the Mini 2 hits France in March. The rest of the world will get both phones after then. Prices have not been announced.
The Galaxy Ace 2 runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread on an 800MHz Dual-Core Processor, 768MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage. A microSD slot is available for expansion up to 32GB. It sports a 3.8-inch, 480800 WVGA plus TFT display and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with flash, capable of shooting videos at 720p HD. A front-facing VGA camera is also included. All powered by a 1500Mah battery.
Connectivity options on the Galaxy Ace 2 are USB 2.0, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi direct and HSDPA up to 14.4mbps. Its sensors are an accelerometer, a digital compass, a proximity sensor and optional NFC. GPS service is powered by GPS and GLONASS. A bunch of Samsung applications already come pre-installed Samsung Kies, Samsung Apps, Music Hub, Social Hub and Game Hub. Other applications can be purchased via Android Market.
The Galaxy Mini 2 also runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is powered by an 800MHz single core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage [also expandable to 32GB via microSD]. The HVGA, 320480 display on the Mini 2 is smaller at 3.27 inches. It packs a rear 3 megapixel camera, capable of recording VGA video at 25fps.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and DLNA for wireless streaming. Sensors are pretty much the same as the Ace 2 with an Accelerometer, a Digital compass, a Proximity sensor and an optional NFC sensor. The pre-installed apps are the same as the Ace 2.
