Apples SVP of Design, Johnathan Jony Ive now has another feather in his cap as he has been granted a knighthood in the United Kingdom where his is originally from. This is according to a BBC report regarding the UKs new years honours list.

Ive, who is credited with the design of the iPod, iPhone , iPad, Macbook Air and a number of Apples other beautifully designed products, says he is absolutely thrilled by the honor.

His official title, according to the report, is  Knight Commander of the British Empire (KBE).

Jony Ive took over leadership leader of Apple’s design team in 1996 and, since then, has transformed the company’s design philosophy. Today’s United Kingdom-related award was not Ive’s first major award from the country. According to Ive’s official Apple biography, in 2003, he was named Designer of the Year by the Design Museum London and awarded the title Royal Designer for Industry by The Royal Society of Arts.

Congratulations to Sir Ive and we hope to see more revolutionary design from him in the future.
