ForgetMeNot Partners With iHub And Safaricom In SMS Apps Challenge

ForgetMeNot Africa has partnered with Kenya’s iHub and Safaricom Kipokezi in an Application Challenge for Developers to create new SMS-based applications or games using the ForgetMeNot Africa Optimiser Platform. Winning apps will receive seed capital and applications will be launched in Kenya on Safaricom’s networks. The winning team gets $2000 prize and 3 iPads for the team or individual.

The winner also gets mentoring from all partners. All apps submited must utilize Kipokezi, SMS and must be developed using the FMN API. The official event launch was held on the 24th of February and the deadline for submissions is the 23rd of March.

Shortlisted finalists will be announced on the 2nd of April and be invited to a 3-day hackathon holding at iHub Nairobi from the 13th to 15th of April. After the Hackathon, Teams/Individuals will present their idea, business strategy and code to the judging panel. The winner will be announced on that day.

ForgetMeNot Africa’s aim is to bring internet messaging to every phone. The company’s technology bridges the gap between internet and mobile messaging, allowing any mobile phone send and receive emails and chat messages on any mobile network.
