Going to the market in Nigeria, Lagos especially, can be such a chore. There’s traffic, you have to go deep into it sometimes to get the best deals, and you have to deal with “area boys” half the time. It’s doesn’t exactly top your list of favourite things to do.

This is where the MHQ Store comes in. You can buy anything from tatashe toshaki, Lux to Olay and even recipes. Just order and they’ll deliver the next day at the cost of ₦1,000. They deliver from 12p.m. – 6p.m. Monday – Saturday and 2p.m. – 6p.m. on Sundays.

As usual with local e-commerce sites, they accept payments on delivery as well as through Interswitch and by transfer into their account.

I think it’s great that they’ve understood their people and put the most essential market online. In Nigeria, we still buy our food completely fresh, that’s why we go to the market. A lot of our food is not packaged and plastered with expiry dates. So it’s important to have an e-commerce site that understands that.

This summer, another site offering similar services, Konga.com, launched in Nigeria. Although I was somewhat impressed, I think this raises the bar because MHQ is selling the things we all use and need.

Both are, no doubt, brilliant additions to the e-commerce industry.

What do you think about e-commerce in Nigeria? Do you think a site like MHQ can be successful? Sound off in the comments.
